What to pack for a holiday in the Maldives in January

Swimwear, of course, is essential for visiting the Maldives in January, but add in a tee shirt to wear in the water if you plan to go snorkelling or risk ending up with a severely burnt back! Sarongs, sandals (including some rubber sandals to protect the feet from coral reefs while swimming) are sufficient for day wear, with perhaps some light evening wear and “respecta ble” light cotton outfits for sightseeing in town. Sunscreen is vital, and a good sunhat, along with a snorkel and face-mask. A selection of reading matter will no doubt be a boon if you plan on spending time relaxing on the beach.
